I have been a major blog slacker lately, not because of lack of things to write about. The biggest news is that Kade is going to be a big brother in January. He has no idea what that means. I keep telling him that there's a baby in my belly and sometimes, I can get him to kiss the "baby", but he's in for a big surprise. One of his favorite words right now is "mama." He all of a sudden seemed to realize that that was my name. Before, he didn't call me anything (except sometimes, dada). He follows me around the house saying, "Mama? Mama!" and when I say, "What?" he just grins or rattles off a long string of his own language, which I have yet to understand. He does all kinds of things that make Michael and I look at each other in wonder and say, "Where did he learn that?!"
For example, his Gramma bought him an awesome pair of tie-dyed Converse tennis shoes on Wednesday. On Thursday morning, he brought them to me and I told him to wait until we changed his clothes (he still had his pajamas on). The shoes disappeared. I looked for them on Thursday and Friday, without luck. I looked under beds, in drawers, in toy boxes, and in laundry baskets. I asked him several times where his new shoes his gramma got him were. He just grinned and said, "Gah gah? Shoe?" and pointed to his foot. Michael came home from work Saturday afternoon and I asked him to look for the shoes. He left the room and came right back, shoes in hand. I looked at him in disbelief. He said, "Where would you put your shoes if you weren't wearing them?" I shrugged. He said, "The shoe shelf." We have a set of shelves in our closet where we line up all our shoes. Kade had noticed and put his own shoes on the shelf. What a smart boy!
He's growing, he's sweet (unless he's sleepy), and I love being his mama!
