It's been a long time.....

It's been so long since I blogged here and there are so many new things in our lives. I'm afraid I'm going to forget all the new and funny things Kade does and I really need to get back to recording them.

First of all, Kade now has a brother--Luke. He loves Luke so much. He calls him "baby boy" and "my baby Uke (that's how he says it)". The first few weeks of Luke's life, he usually had a wet spot somewhere on his head from being kissed by Kade. They're going to be such good friends.

Kade has finally started enjoying to sing and play instruments. He loves the guitar, piano, and drums. He has a great memory and can usually remember the words to any song he's heard several times. Lately, he's been singing a condensed version of "Jesus Loves Me" that goes, "Jesus loves me, Bible tells me sooo, cha cha cha" (for some reason, when he was little, Michael and I always said "cha cha cha" at the end of "Jesus Loves Me". We did a new song at church on Sunday called "Our God's Alive" and all the way home from church that morning, Kade beat on his guitar and sang,"Cry out, our God's alive." What sweet words to our ears! He also has the theme songs to his favorite shows memorized--Veggie Tales, Dora, Diego, Mickey Mouse
Clubhouse, etc.

We have some funny conversations. Last week, we were in the car and I told Kade we were going
to get his hair cut. He said, "No, I don't wannna get my hay-uh cuh!" I told him we were going
anyway. He said, "Mommy! I ha an idee-uh!" I said, "What is it Kade?" He said, "I no wanna
go DAT way!" and pointed toward the barber shop. He's always saying, "What you say to so-and-
so? (whoever I'm talking to at the time)" or "What you laughing at, mommy?"

He says "t's" for all his "f's", so "fishing" is "tishing" and "fun" is "tun". You get the
picture. It's interesting when it comes to trying to decipher what he's saying.

Right now, he's fascinated with all the sounds outside--dogs barking, lawn mowers, trains,
trucks, motorcycles. He always says, "What's dat sound, mommy? What dat loud noise?"

We've been doing some "school" at home and he now knows that a baby cow is a calf and a baby
cat is a kitten. He knows a lot about jungle animals. He also knows most of the alphabet and
can count pretty much by himself to 30 (sometimes, he skips 4). He knows most of his colors.
We think he's pretty smart for a 2.5 year old.

A couple of months ago, I got the movie "The Help" in from Netflix. Kade didn't watch it with
us, but I said to him several times after that: You is smart, you is kind, you is important.
Well, one morning he did or said something and I said, "Kade, you are so smart" and he
immediately quipped, "Kade is kind, Kade is impohtan"

Another funny thing he does: he loves peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. So, I started singing this really annoying song that goes, "Peanut butter jelly time, peanut butter jelly time, peanut butter jelly, peanut butter jelly, peanut butter jelly with a baseball bat." Now, every time you ask him what he wants to eat, for any meal, he says, "peanut butter jelly time."

Kade has a whole Bible verse memorized. We're working on more, but for some reason, he caught on to this one quick: "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth." Genesis 1:1. After all, those are the very first words of the Bible. It's always good to start at the beginning.
